Kevin Dobler traces his interest in fantasy art to childhood, when the Brothers Hildebrandt's illustrations for The Sword of Shannara showed him that pictures could carry their own stories. He graduated from the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon Graphics and Illustration in 2000 and began freelancing during his senior year there.
He went on to paint cards for every Wizards of the Coast Harry Potter card set, alongside freelance illustration work for Magic: The Gathering, working in both traditional and 3D media.
