David Day was born in 1941 in Ebbw Vale, Wales, and studied at Ebbw Vale Grammar School before earning a National Diploma in Design and Interior Design at Newport College of Art and Leeds College of Art. He worked as a designer before turning his focus to watercolor painting.
Day works chiefly in acrylic, Indian ink, and oil pastel, producing paintings and limited-edition prints often contrasting man-made structures with Welsh landscapes; he was shortlisted for the Welsh Artist of the Year award in 2009. Alongside his fine art career, he has illustrated for Dragon magazine and the Harry Potter Trading Card Game.
